Biography
Dr. Zheng Guo is a full professor and leader of Agro-Biotechnology Science Group at Department of Biological and Chemical Engineering, Aarhus University, Denmark. Prof. Guo obtained his ph.d. in Biochemical Engineering, Tianjin University in 2004; and appointed as Research assistant Prof. in Technical University of Denmark during 2004-2008, and moved to Aarhus Univ. as an Associate Prof. 2009-2020, and promoted as a full professor in 2021. As a visiting scholar Dr. Guo stayed for 1 year in MIT Chemistry in 2012, and as a visiting faculty to Caltech Chemistry in the Nobel Prize Winner Frances Arnold’s lab for 1 year in 2018. Guo’s Lab specializes in enzyme discovery and engineering, enzyme catalysis, metabolic engineering, green chemistry, and designing & developing innovative bioprocess. Main research projects hosted by his lab cover materializing biotransformation of biomass, and agricultural side streams, sustainable production of biochemicals and biomaterials, and enzymatic/biological solutions to environmental challenges such as GHG mitigation and pollutions such as upcycling of plastic waste. Prof. Guo has led and coordinated many national and international large projects including Horizon Europe projects. Part of the results have been concluded as >200 peer-reviewed publications and several patents. Guo’s Lab has broad interests and project collaborations with big companies e.g. GSK, Danisco/DuPont, Novozymes (Novonesis), etc and SMEs.
