Biography
Yoni Shiran is a Partner at Systemiq where he leads the Plastics & Packaging work.

Yoni was the program director and lead author of “Breaking the Plastic Wave: A Comprehensive Assessment of Pathways Towards Stopping Ocean Plastic Pollution” which presents a first-of-its-kind full-system model of the global plastics system and was published in Science. This ground-breaking study is an evidence-based roadmap that describes the economic, environmental and social implications of different scenarios to address plastic pollution. Yoni also co-authored the study ReShaping Plastics – Pathways to a Circular, Climate Neutral Plastics System in Europe which shows how to align Europe’s plastic system with circularity and net-zero emission objectives.

Yoni advises to senior leaders across industry, governments, multi-lateral organizations, innovators, civil society, and the financial industry on their plastic and packaging strategy, and how to transform to a circular plastic system Yoni is also a regular speaker at international conferences including at the recent launch of the High Ambition Coalition to End Plastic Pollution where he spoke along environmental ministers from Norway, Rwanda, Chile, the Executive Director of UNEP, and other senior leaders. He has also published a number of publications including a recent article in Economist Impact “A global plastics treaty is our biggest chance to turn the tide on plastics. We must use it, and we must use it well”.

Before SYSTEMIQ, Yoni spent six years with McKinsey & Company working on a range of strategy and circular economy projects and he holds an MBA from UC Berkeley.
