Biography

Nithya Subramanian is a Scientist at TNO in the Material Solutions department, where she focuses on the topic of ‘circular packaging’. She holds a PhD in Aerospace Engineering, with a background in lightweight polymers. Her research experience includes work at Arizona State University and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, where she studied the coupled behavior of polymeric materials.

In 2020, she moved to TU Delft after receiving a Marie Curie Fellowship, and joined TNO in 2022. Her current work involves leading projects on the design for and from recycling of plastics, with a particular emphasis on understanding how plastics degrade during mechanical recycling and how this degradation can be mitigated.
